Beckett BGS Card Grading & Certification

Beckett grading, overall grades, subgrades and submission considerations.

What the official resources establish

  • Beckett evaluates major condition areas including centering, corners, edges and surface.
  • Beckett publishes a grading scale with half-point increments.
  • Current service levels and subgrade options should be checked directly.

When collectors commonly consider this service

Collectors may weigh holder preference, registry participation, market familiarity, turnaround, submission price, card category, desired label information and likely resale venue. No service is automatically best for every card.

Before submitting

Confirm current fees, declared-value rules, accepted card types, packaging requirements, turnaround estimates and return shipping directly with the company. Photograph each card before shipment and retain tracking and insurance documentation.

BGS label details and grade comparisons

BGS labels and grading presentations can differ across submission types and time. Read the exact label and recorded grade rather than relying on seller shorthand.

  • Verify the serial and card identity using official Beckett resources.
  • If subgrades are displayed, evaluate centering, corners, edges and surface separately.
  • Compare completed sales of the same card and BGS grade, not a PSA or SGC grade by default.
